Need a money-making website idea?  Here's one for you!  This money maker is an example of some brilliant, out-of-the-box thinking on the part of a university student in the United Kingdom who didn't want to be bogged down paying off his student loans for years to come.

Light Bulb Moment Idea!

In 2005, Alex Tew, age 21, was brainstorming as to how he could make money with a website.  He decided to start a website and sell ad space on his home page in minimum increments of 100 pixels.   Why 100 pixels?  His reasoning was that text on a space smaller than 100 pixels in size was not readable.  Of course, even 100 pixels is a very small area.  (You'll see how small this is in a minute, when you click on the link at the bottom of this page.)

Here is what he did.  He offered his pixel ads on eBay.  Advertisers were allowed to buy larger numbers of pixels, but no less than 100.  He agreed to leave the website online for a minimum of 5 years, and longer, if at all possible.  True to his promise, his website has been online (as of this writing) for 10 years.

Just for curiosity's sake, I counted the pixels on his page.  (No....I didn't count them one by one.)  I  used an Excel spreadsheet to total them from his advertiser list.  Sure enough!  In about 5 months time, he sold 1,003,600 pixels and filled his home page with ads, and if you check his testimonials page, his advertisers were quite pleased with the increase in traffic they received from their ads.

As a university student studying Business Management, I'm sure this very novel method of making money online also probably looks great on his career resume.
